App of the Week: FaceCake’s ShadeScout

Trying to find the exact shade of lipstick or foundation that matches your skin tone can seem nearly impossible.

Instead of trying to guess on the right shade, FaceCake Marketing Technologies, Inc. has released a new makeup savvy app, ShadeScout.

Using color search technology, ShadeScout will focus on finding the makeup tones users’ are searching for. The app also makes use of  FaceCake’s Virtual Try-On and built-in purchase features. Users can search for the color they want in any type of beauty product, such as eyeshadow, blush, lipstick and foundation.

Here’s what we love about ShadeScout- it allows users to snap a picture of anything that has a color they envy, and the app will locate its makeup equivalent. Whether it’s a beautiful paint color, a stranger’s blush shade or the tone of your favorite sweater, the app will work to find your perfect cosmetic match.

Linda Smith, founder and CEO of FaceCake, says that in addition to ShadeScout finding items matching a user’s color desires, they don’t have to rely on finding their own product information.

“A search engine for today’s shoppers, ShadeScout makes it easy to find the products you want, virtually try them on, share them with friends, buy items and is with you wherever you go,” Smith says.

ShadeScout offers product suggestions based on more than 40 high quality cosmetic brands, and if you wants an extra opinion, the app also has a social component that let’s your friends offer beauty suggestions.

Download ShadeScout for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
