App of the Week: M2M is a fashion history buff’s dream

In our App of the Week series, we take a look at the newest and coolest apps to see if they’re worth a try.

Fashion history buffs this app is for you.

Need to brush up on your knowledge of Cristóbal Balenciaga? The Made to Measure has a 2-minute 43-second refresher video for your viewing pleasure.

Have no idea what the Battle at Versailles is? A 1-hour 44-second video will drop some knowledge. (FYI: the Battle at Versailles was a landmark 1973 fashion show that putm2m 2 African-American models on the runway for the first time.)

In addition to its treasure trove of archived fashion shows the app also captures intimate behind the scenes moments with designers like Alber Ebaz, Peter Copping and Isabel Marant — true fashion history in the making.

A partnership between WME/IMG and Apple, M2M was launched exclusively on Apple TV last October and is now streaming free from M2M.tv and the newly launched app.

M2M’s original series and documentaries highlight the people, issues, trends and events that have defined and transformed the fashion landscape.

The fashion video network also features six original series, including “Iconic,” a look at influential figures in the world of fashion, like stylish Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni and “Tea at the Beatrice,” an interview series hosted by Glenn O’Brien with guests including Leandra Medine, the Proenza Schouler boys and Richard Prince.

M2M covers the world of fashion and style — past, present and future — through fresh and culturally relevant storytelling, and as a major fashion obsessive, I’m enamored by all it has to offer.

You can download M2M for free on iTunes. Try it out and tell us what you think of it in the comments section below.
