Carlota Espinosa Launches New E-Commerce Site, Styloot.com

The founder of HauteLook, Carlota Espinosa, has launched a new e-commerce platform called Styloot.com that offers apparel, jewelry, accessories, and footwear.  They have more than 400,000 products from more than 4000 brands.  This comes from partnering with more than 100 online retailers, which includes Net-a-porter, Target, Bloomingdale’s, Christian Louboutin, Levi’s, Oscar de la Renta, and BCBG Max Azria. Styloot also has a search engine that lets users filter search results through brand, style, color, retailer, prices, and type of sale (30 percent off to 70 percent off).  Other investors and partners include Karthik Nandyal and Samir Patil.

Styloot tries to distinguish itself from other online shopping websites with its “Create My Look” tool. This tool enables users to get allows users to get very specific search results.  For example, the user can enter the type of toe, heel, fastening of a shoe and will see it visualize on the feet and leg of a mannequin.  For apparel, they can choose the neckline, sleeve, waist size, and also see the style change on the mannequin.

There is also an application for mobile phones and tablets from Styloot.  Users can take a photo of outfits they see in stores or outside, and in return they will get a list of similar outfits and items in a period of 24 hours.  Users can also make inspiration boards on the website and share them on other social platforms.  Styloot makes its profit by getting a percentage cut through each transaction that takes place with their partnered retailers.
