Context, an NYC-based unisex health and beauty brand, has secured an undisclosed amount of growth equity funding.
The investment came from Florida-based private equity firm, Volta Global.
“Our private equity investment philosophy focused on finding business partners for the long term aligns perfectly with David [Arbuthnot’s] vision for Context,” Marko Dimitrijevic, chairman of Volta Global, said in a statement.
Arbuthnot, a luxury beauty veteran who has held executive posts at Christian Dior, Gucci, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein, founded the direct-to-consumer beauty line in 2015.
The unisex brand offers beauty and vitamin skin care products that are derived from natural ingredients like herbal extracts and rich botanical oils.
Anthropologie and Revolve currently stock the brand as it prepares to rollout skincare, color, wellness and home products later in 2017 and add on another US-based retailer.
Arbuthnot said the new investment will allow him “to focus on building brand awareness, product development, domestic and international distribution and expansion of the direct-to-consumer site.”
The brand also has plans to expand beyond the US into Europe and Asia, company executives said.
