Meeting David is an experience like few others. Intense, Experienced and Passionate. Intensely loyal, he will fight with you all the way down the path of success. Don’t expect him to sugar coat his words, however. He will tell you exactly as he see it. And it is usually right on target. David has focused entirely on the entrepreneurial sector of the economy his entire career. After spending time, as a CPA, at Arthur Anderson and McBride Shopa, David was asked to establish the first Delaware based venture capital firm by then Governor Thomas Carper ( and currently serving as a Unites States Senator). Fifteen years later, David has worked directly with over 50 portfolio companies and counseled hundreds of entrepreneurs. David also has a passion for people, finding something in common with most that he meets. Whatever you need, you’ll find that “David’s got a guy…”

As CEO and founder of FashInvest, LLC, David brings his in-depth experience as a venture capital investor who has worked directly with over 30 portfolio companies in his career helping them first obtain necessary funding and assisting them in their growth towards successful businesses. With a career spanning over 25 years, David’s has focused entirely on the entrepreneurial sector of the economy having started his career in the Enterprise Group of Arthur Andersen.

After spending a half dozen years with Andersen, he launched the Corporate Advisory Group of McBride Shopa, one of the largest certified public accounting and consulting firms in the mid-Atlantic region where he worked directly with business owners and CEOs in financial and strategic matters.

In 1996, David was asked to establish the first Delaware based venture capital firm by then Governor Thomas Carper and became CEO of the Delaware Innovation Fund (DIF), an award winning state and community sponsored economic development venture capital firm. At the DIF, David counseled hundreds of entrepreneurs and invested in over twenty portfolio companies throughout the mid-Atlantic region. In 2004, David launched Innovation Ventures, L.P.. (IV), a federally licensed Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) which has invested in emerging and growth companies from North Carolina though New England . Today, David serves as the Managing Principal of Innovation Capital Advisors (ICA), the management company of Innovation Ventures and the Delaware Innovation Fund, where he is responsible for all aspects of IV’s and the DIF’s management, including the business strategy, fiscal and operational management, raising investment capital, and evaluating all investment opportunities and portfolio company management.  David is also the founder of ARC Angel Fund in NYC, the first member managed angel fund in the history of that city.  Since its founding in 2010, ARC has invested in over 15 emerging companies throughout the NorthEast.

David remains very active in the venture capital community throughout the East Coast of the United States and is a regular speaker at several venture capital conferences including Funding Post, Womensphere, Astia and Bootstrapper Conferences. He also is the founder and regular annual host of Early Stage East, the premier early stage venture capital conference on the East Coast.

David is an investor in consumer-oriented companies through the funds he manages and as an individual. His passion is in consumer oriented companies where he has advised several fashion designers and technology executives in a host of business and growth company investment matters. He also is an Adjunct Professor of Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship at LIM College in New York City.

He remains active in the venture and entrepreneurial communities, sits on a number of Boards, and has been a lecturer on such topics at such venues as The White House Conference on Small Business, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania , Temple University (where he served as the Entrepreneur in Residence for one year) and the University of Delaware, among others. In addition, he was appointed and served a three-year term representing New Castle County , Delaware on the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. David was awarded Small Business Financial Advocate of the Year by the US Small Business Administration.

David is a licensed CPA and CGMA and graduated with honors with an MBA from Loyola College of Maryland and cum laude from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in accounting, where he was a John B. Lynch Scholar. He is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma – the National Honor Society.
