Fashiolista’s Members Increased to 1 Million

Rapid Growth Encourages Stylish Celebration

Fashiolista, an online archive that shares fashion related objects and inspirations, has just reached 1 million in its members.  It has been growing quickly since its launch two years ago.  The growth was mainly observed in Europe and Brazil.  Although Fashiolista is in the same industry as Pinterest and Lyst, it distinguishes itself by its concentration on fashion and a member proportion of 97% females.

The Fashiolista members are very dedicated to the site’s tagline, which is “Love Your Style”.  Altogether, members collect over 500,000 fashion objects per day and share them on the website.  Most of the members are in the age range of 18 to 25 years old, and this consists of over 50,000 fashion bloggers.  "The site gained much of its early exposure from collaborations with popular fashion bloggers like Chiara Ferragni (The Blonde Salad) and Andy Torres (Stylescrapbook),” said CEO and co-founder Joost Nauta.

This year, Fashiolista has launched its application on Facebook.  They have members in over 160 countries and representatives in New York, Sao Paolo, and Istanbul.  The company is based in Amsterdam.  They have teamed up with brands such as ASOS, TopShop, and Replay.  The firm Atomico, which is owned by Skype co-founder Niklas Zennström, has also invested in Fashiolista.

For the 1-million-membership celebration, Fashiolista has partnered with artist Frank E. Hollywood and the brand American Vintage.  They searched for fashionable girls on the streets in Amsterdam.  When they found them, Frank E Hollywood painted on their clothing and then the girls were styled by American Vintage with new outfits.
