Top Blogs of 2012: FashionPlaytes Raises $5M in Series B Funding
Industry’s First Commerce Destination for Tweens
FashionPlaytes has announced its $5 million Series B financing. The funding was given by new investors Leo Capital Holdings and Spindrift Equities along with existing investors Fairhaven Capital, New Atlantic Ventures and Golden Seeds. FashionPlaytes will use this funding to continue to enhance the engagement, social interaction and educational components of its FPGirl site.
Founder and CEO Sarah McIlroy states: “Tween girls expect to be engaged, entertained and enlightened during the time they spend with us on FPGirl.com and our fusion of content, commerce and community provides a rich experience for these first-time online shoppers. We are meeting the e-commerce expectations of tomorrow’s primary shoppers and helping them create social capital in an increasingly complex and highly interactive digital world.”
FashionPlaytes.com invites girls to design and wear their own dresses, hoodies, jackets, tees, and more. Girls pick out the style and color, and then add their own flair with fun embellishments, including their own brand label. FashionPlaytes provides a fun, engaging way for girls to express their creativity and share it with others. Using the FashionPlaytes Design Studio, girls create an avatar and design their own collections as they build out their style books. In the next few months, we’ll be adding even more features to let girls connect over a shared love of fashion and design.
