Madison Reed, an online hair color delivery service based in San, Francisco, California, has raised $13 million in venture funding. With the new investment, the company has raised over $45 million to date.
Investors in the round were undisclosed.
In addition to the funding announcement the company said it is adding Heidi Dorosin to its team as its first chief marketing officer. Dorosin most recently led Clorox’s laundry division as general manager.
“Practically every woman over 40 colors her hair, but all they had to choose from before was a crappy box dye or a very expensive salon experience,” Dorosin said in a TechCrunch report. “I think of Madison Reed as the ultimate hair color hack.”
Amy Errett, Eric Hutchinson, Sabrina Riddle and Andrew Trader, co-founded the hair color service in 2013 as Madison Color.
The company has since rebranded as Madison Reed, Inc. and ships professional grade hair color and treatment products straight to their customer’s homes through its online hair color platform after they’ve filled out a questionnaire about their hair color preferences.
Company executives said the new investment will be used to launch a new line that’s in the works and open up more brick-and-mortar spots since its Madison Reed Color Bar in New York City has been so successful.
