SalesGossip Receives Seed Funding From Angels
Paving the Way to Renovation and Mobile App Sales Alerts
SalesGossip, a fashion technology start-up firm, has just raised its seed funding from angel investors. The seed funding was received after they won the EnterprisingU competition, which was sponsored by the professionals networking site LinkedIn and the British Bank, RBS. The amount of funding was not revealed. Angel investors that participated are Andrew Grahame, Ballpark Ventures, Stephen Bullock, Dale Murray, and Colin Rushmere.
The funding will be utilized to redesign the site and introduce mobile applications. Even though 20% of the site’s traffic is mobile, SalesGossip does not have an iPhone or Android App. Although email alerts and the site’s data set would locate the sales on a Google Map, a mobile app would make it much easier and faster.
Zabetta Camilleri and Emilio Sanz launched SalesGossip in September 2011. It was originally launched in London but has increased its operations to other cities such as Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham. Sales Gossip’s goal is to solve the challenges that all online and brick-and-mortar fashion retailers face: advertising discounted inventory and addressing lack of consumer knowledge regarding sales’ hours and locations. Its approach to solving the problem is to alert members on discounts through the SalesGossip website and personalized emails derived from members’ purchasing preferences. The goal is to give members primary access to discounts, deals, and sales events.
